"Sustainable Saturdays: Holes, Tears, and Custom Repairs! :
Hand Sewing 101 for Beginners!"

A workshop for people who have NEVER hand sewn before, but want to know some basics in order to repair and customize your threads!! You will be Introduced to a variety of basic techniques to fit many types of repairs one can do by hand. You should leave with a base level of confidence to start repairing and customizing your own wears to make them last MANY years beyond what they were intended!
- You will receive (if you want it) 1 all purpose needle, and a few yards of thread just to get you started!
- Registration is highly recommended if you would like a needle and thread to take with you!  
- AGE RANGE: Any humans that can be trusted using a needle!

"Sustainable Saturday: Plastics, Polymers, and Pollution, Oh My!"

Ever wonder what your plastic water bottle is REALLY made of?! Plastics are made of molecules called polymers, and these types of polymers are polluting our environment. However, not all polymers are bad! Be a scientist for the day in this hands-on workshop discovering how polymers impact your daily life, and how scientists today are using polymers to create a more sustainable world!

Hosted by recent Chatham University grad and Polymer Science &Engineering PhD student, Syba (pictured here in her lab coat)!

This is a family friendly event and all ages are welcome.

The presentation will last about 90 minutes.
